Bauchi Assembly Majority Leader Resigns for Chairmanship Bid

Saleh Hodi, the Majority Leader of the Bauchi State House of Assembly, resigned from his position as the lawmaker representing Disina Constituency to run for the Shira Local Government chairmanship election. His resignation was officially announced by the Speaker of the Assembly, Abubakar Sulaiman, during a plenary session on Wednesday.

The Speaker confirmed that the House received a formal letter from Hodi regarding his decision to vacate his seat following his nomination as the chairmanship candidate of the Allied People’s Movement (APM). Hodi expressed gratitude to the Speaker, his colleagues, and constituents for their support during his tenure, which began in 2019.

He pledged to work diligently if elected as chairman. Following Hodi's resignation, Auwal Yana was nominated as the new Majority Leader, a decision made by the APM Executive Council.

Sulaiman praised Hodi for his contributions and described their relationship as familial. Other lawmakers also commended Hodi for his dedication and wished him success in the upcoming election.
