APM Candidate Advocates Tax on Social Media for Revenue

Dr. Yakubu Adamu, the governorship candidate for the All Progressives Movement (APM) in Bauchi State, stated that the state could significantly boost its revenue by taxing major social media companies.

In an interview with Radio France International (RFI) Hausa, Adamu highlighted the large number of social media users in Bauchi, arguing that the state should receive a share of the revenue generated by these platforms. He mentioned that companies like YouTube, Facebook, and Twitter should contribute financially, as they benefit from the state's user base.

Adamu stressed that to attract investors, the government must create a business-friendly environment, which includes simplifying regulations, improving security, and providing land for operations. He recalled that Bauchi State previously hosted an investment summit that attracted local and foreign investors, resulting in commitments worth nearly $6 billion.
