Bauchi Governor Swears In 20 Local Government Chairmen

On Tuesday, Governor Bala Mohammed administered oaths to the newly elected chairmen representing all 20 local government councils in Bauchi State. The swearing-in ceremony took place at the Government House in Bauchi and included a Commissioner for Water Resources and six special advisers.
During his remarks, the governor instructed the council leaders to handle local government finances with honesty and care for resources. He warned them against diverting council funds, emphasizing that the financial independence granted to local governments has expanded their capacity to serve communities effectively.
Mohammed called on each chairman to earn voter trust through transparent and effective leadership operating at the grassroots. The governor identified several areas requiring immediate attention from the new councils: security, education, healthcare, agricultural advancement, and infrastructure development.
He underscored the need for council chairmen to engage other stakeholders in addressing localized challenges. The ceremony followed peaceful local government elections, which the administration has held regularly beginning in 2019.
Mohammed stressed that integrity and competence must guide the chairmen's work, with their focus directed squarely at boosting resident welfare across their respective councils. The newly sworn-in leadership now bears responsibility for overseeing resources and driving development efforts throughout the state's 20 local government areas.
