Bauchi Deputy Governor Demands Release of Arrested APM Members

The Bauchi State government, through Deputy Governor Rt Hon Auwal Jatau, has called for the immediate release of three members of the All Progressives Movement (APM) who were arrested by security operatives during the Zaki and Disina State Constituency bye-elections held on a Saturday. Jatau made this demand while monitoring the election process in Fuchukuwa, Sakuwa Ward of Zaki Local Government Area.

He alleged that operatives deployed from Abuja had intimidated APM supporters without any justifiable cause. Jatau insisted that there was no incriminating evidence against those arrested and urged security authorities to exercise restraint.

He emphasized that his camp would not permit any interference with the electoral process and directed APM supporters to avoid collusion in election rigging. Despite his concerns regarding the arrests, Jatau commended the high voter turnout and praised the professional conduct of INEC officials and police personnel at the polling units he visited.

He urged all stakeholders to ensure a peaceful conclusion to the bye-election.
