Bauchi Police Arrest Two Suspected Cattle Rustlers

The Bauchi State Police Command arrested two suspected cattle rustlers, Umaru Adamu, aged 40, also known as Balawo, and Haruna Usman, aged 30, alias Dotti, in Alkaleri Local Government Area on July 19, 2026. The arrest followed credible intelligence and resulted in the recovery of three stolen bulls valued at N1,730,000.00.

The police spokesperson, SP Nafiu Habib, stated that preliminary investigations indicated the suspects obtained the cattle from two other accomplices who are currently at large. These fleeing suspects are believed to be habitual cattle rustlers operating along the Bauchi-Gombe border.

Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, has directed intensified efforts to apprehend the fleeing suspects. The arrested individuals are currently in custody, and the case is under investigation, with the recovered cattle secured as exhibits.

The police command continues to urge residents to provide timely information to aid in crime prevention and investigation.
