Bauchi Police Launch Crackdown on Vehicle Number Plate Violations

The Bauchi State Police Command, under the leadership of Commissioner of Police Mr. Sani Omolori, has commenced an enforcement operation targeting vehicles with covered, unauthorized, or missing number plates. This initiative follows a directive from the Inspector General of Police, Mr. Olatunji Rilwan Disu, aimed at improving compliance with vehicle registration laws.

The operation will involve area commands and Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) across 20 local government areas in Bauchi State, with the objective of promptly impounding vehicles that violate these regulations for further investigation. The police have urged the public to understand that the operation is not intended to harass law-abiding citizens but is a security strategy to combat criminal elements that use obscured or missing number plates to evade detection.

Motorists are advised to ensure their vehicles display valid and clearly visible registration plates and to keep their vehicle documents current and available for inspection. The police also encouraged the public to report any suspicious vehicle movements.
