PRP Defends Senator Buba Against Terrorism Claims

The Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) has publicly defended Senator Shehu Buba, who represents the Bauchi South Senatorial District, against allegations of terrorism. The PRP challenged anyone making such accusations to provide evidence, labeling the claims as unacceptable and a tactic by political opponents to tarnish Buba's reputation.

Muhammed Ishaq, the PRP National Publicity Secretary, issued a statement on Friday asserting that the allegations should be thoroughly investigated to ascertain their validity. The party referenced Section 127(c) of the Electoral Act, which penalizes the dissemination of false statements that could harm a candidate's electoral prospects.

The PRP condemned the allegations as a campaign of disinformation and character assassination, stating that those with evidence of any criminal activity involving Buba should report it to the authorities instead of relying on unverified claims. This statement followed Buba's denial of recent allegations linking him to banditry, which he described as part of a sustained campaign against him.
