Bauchi University Enhances Research Skills for Lecturers

Bauchi State University organized a three-day workshop aimed at training lecturers in research skills as part of efforts to promote staff development and enhance research capabilities. The event took place on a Tuesday, with Vice Chancellor Fatima Tahir emphasizing the necessity of continuous staff training, particularly in research, to improve product innovation within the institution.

She stated that the workshop aligns with federal government policies aimed at ensuring research outcomes are practical solutions for industry and society rather than remaining confined to laboratories. The Vice Chancellor committed to equipping staff with the requisite knowledge and skills necessary for institutional growth and transformation.

The workshop was attended by 64 academic staff from various faculties and departments, and it was noted that the training was supported by the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund), which sponsored a specialized research development program last year. Director of the Centre of Excellence in Research and Innovation, Usman Waziri, disclosed that the workshop was organized to broaden the impact of earlier TETFund-sponsored training and ensure wider participation among staff members.
