Bayelsa Schedules Local Government Elections for 2027

The Bayelsa State Independent Electoral Commission (BYSIEC) has announced that local government elections will take place on April 3, 2027. This decision was disclosed by the BYSIEC Chairman, Dr.

Peter Singabel, during a stakeholders' meeting held in the commission's conference room in Yenagoa. The commission has urged political parties to prepare for the elections, ensuring that they are conducted in a free, fair, and credible manner.

To facilitate this process, the commission has set a timeline for political parties to organize their internal congresses to select their preferred candidates for chairmanship and councilorship positions. The notice for these elections will take effect on March 23, 2026, and political parties are hereby notified to adhere to this timeline for the selection of candidates.
