BSFA Honors Alia, Gusau, and Shaibu for Sports Contributions

The Benue State Football Association (BSFA) awarded its prestigious Chairman’s Honours Award to Governor Hyacinth Alia, Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) President Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau, and National Institute for Sports (NIS) Director General Rt. Hon.

Comrade Philip Shaibu. The awards were presented on Friday during the 2026 Annual General Meeting (AGM) held in Makurdi by BSFA Chairman Chief Dr.

Paul Edeh, FCPA. Governor Alia was recognized for his visionary leadership and commitment to youth empowerment and sports development in Benue State, which has strengthened grassroots sports.

Gusau was honored for his transformative leadership and contributions to Nigerian football since becoming NFF President in 2022, including multiple visits to Benue for football engagements. Shaibu received recognition for advancing coaching education and capacity development in Nigerian sports, emphasizing the importance of qualified coaches for grassroots football.

The BSFA aims to acknowledge those who significantly contribute to football development in Benue State and Nigeria.
