Benue Assembly Suspends Kwande LGA Chairman Neji

On Thursday, the Benue State House of Assembly recommended the suspension of Vitalis Neji, the Chairman of Kwande Local Government Area, over allegations of gross misconduct and abuse of office. This recommendation was based on the findings of an ad hoc committee formed to investigate the allegations against Neji.

During the plenary session, the Majority Leader and Chairman of the committee, Peter Ipusu, presented the report, indicating that Neji had appeared before the committee but did not satisfactorily defend himself against the charges. Following the report's presentation and subsequent debate, the assembly members unanimously urged Speaker Alfred Emberga to act on the committee's recommendation.

The Speaker ruled in favor of the suspension, which took effect immediately and will last for one month, pending further investigation into the allegations against Neji.
