Jigawa Assembly Suspends Buji LG Chairman Over Misconduct

The Jigawa State House of Assembly has suspended Najibullahi Falalu Tukur, the Chairman of Buji Local Government Council, indefinitely due to allegations of gross misconduct and misappropriation of public funds. This decision was made during a plenary session on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, after the House adopted the recommendations from the House Committee on Local Government, presented by its Vice Chairman, Sani Sale Zaburan.

The committee's report cited Section 36, Subsections (2) and (3) of the Jigawa State Local Government Establishment Law, 2024, as the basis for the suspension. Following the announcement by the Speaker of the House, Rt.

Hon. Haruna Aliyu Dangyatin, Tukur was directed to hand over all government properties in his possession to the Vice Chairman of the council.
