Benue Governor Alia Supports New Army Division Establishment

On Tuesday, Benue State Governor Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia expressed his administration's full support for the establishment of new Nigerian Army formations in the state, particularly the 5 Division. During a meeting with an Implementation Committee delegation from the Army Headquarters at the Old Banquet Hall of Government House in Makurdi, Governor Alia emphasized that the new military formations would significantly enhance security in Benue.

He committed to providing land and necessary logistics for the smooth establishment of the division. The Governor thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for approving the new Army formations and locating the headquarters of the 5 Division in Benue.

He acknowledged the long-standing desire of the people for a stronger military presence due to ongoing security challenges. Additionally, he congratulated Major General M.

K. Gara on his appointment as the pioneer General Officer Commanding of the 5 Division and assured continued cooperation with the Nigerian Army.

The Army Headquarters Committee's visit aims to facilitate the implementation of the Federal Government's approval for the new military units.
