Taraku Mills Limited Launches Soya Oil Production in Benue
Taraku Mills Limited in Benue State has commenced test-run production of soya oil following the delivery of 300 tonnes of soybean. This initiative is part of the rehabilitation efforts by the Benue Investment and Property Company Limited (BIPC) to revive agro-industrial activities in the state.
Group Managing Director of BIPC, Raymond Asemakaha, emphasized that the factory's revival would create employment opportunities and improve market access for farmers. The facility has an installed capacity of 200 tonnes per day but will start with 50 tonnes daily due to years of inactivity.
Plant Manager Engr. James Tergu Ikuve stated that the purification process has begun, with crushing expected to start within two days, aiming to produce Golden Soya Oil by the end of October. Asemakaha urged local farmers to increase production, assuring them of market opportunities.
The administration of Governor Hyacinth Alia is committed to ensuring that government-owned enterprises operate efficiently for the benefit of the community.
