Idoma Community in UK Inaugurates New Executive Council

On February 28, 2026, the Idoma community in the United Kingdom inaugurated its executive council, appointing Chief Dr. William Oband Obeya as President.

The ceremony highlighted the significance of cultural unity among Idoma people living abroad and reinforced the connection to their homeland. The council includes Mr.

Catherin Oten as Vice President, Godwin Ejeh as General Secretary, and other roles filled by members such as Chri Diga, Franci Akor, and Helen Joseph. The monarch, Agaba Idu, emphasized the importance of maintaining unity among the Idoma diaspora and the need for collective engagement in cultural heritage.

The event marked the second international engagement within six months, showcasing the commitment to strengthening ties with Idoma citizens abroad. Chief Obeya expressed gratitude for the royal endorsement and committed to prioritizing unity and transparency in leadership.

The next Idoma Day celebration is scheduled for August 8, 2026, inviting all Idoma people across Europe to unite in celebrating their cultural heritage.
