Idoma Nation Plans Centenary Celebration for 2026

The Idoma Nation is set to celebrate its centenary anniversary in 2026, commemorating 100 years since the establishment of the Idoma Division in 1923. This significant event, themed "Honour the Century, Forge the Future," aims to not only commemorate the past but also strategize for future development.

The celebration will feature a hybrid meeting chaired by Prof. Yakubu Ochefu and co-chaired by Chief Emmanuel Ogbil, focusing on collecting memories and empowering the youth, who make up 60% of the population.

Activities planned include an academic and policy summit, youth innovation showcases, a beauty pageant, a cultural carnival, and a gala award night. The event will also involve interfaith prayer services and the launch of a legacy institute.

A bicentennial celebration is planned for 2123, with initiatives including a scholarship fund and a digital museum. The celebration will draw participation from various stakeholders, including traditional councils and diaspora groups.
