Benue State Partners with IOM, NEMA for Disaster Preparedness

Benue State has initiated a partnership with the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to improve disaster preparedness in local communities. Dr. James Iorpuu, the Executive Secretary of the Benue State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), disclosed this on Thursday during the distribution of food and non-food items to internally displaced persons across 15 camps in host communities within the state.

Iorpuu expressed confidence that the project, once fully implemented, will strengthen local emergency management structures and provide critical training for grassroots emergency volunteers throughout Benue State. He emphasized that this collaboration aims to significantly enhance the preparedness and resilience of communities in response to emergencies and disasters.

Iorpuu reaffirmed SEMA's commitment to executing its duties with integrity, transparency, and accountability, and acknowledged the invaluable support from both international and local partners in delivering humanitarian assistance to those in need.
