CAF Strips Senegal of AFCON Title, Awards Morocco

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has officially reversed the result of the January 18, 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) final, stripping Senegal of the title and awarding it to Morocco. This decision came after CAF's appeal board found Senegal had forfeited the match for breaching Articles 82 and 84 of the AFCON competition regulations, resulting in a 3-0 defeat.

The incident occurred during stoppage time when Senegal's players left the field without the referee's authorization, leading to a penalty awarded to Morocco. Following this ruling, various betting platforms, including Sky Bet, Betfair, and Paddy Power, announced they would settle wagers in favor of Morocco.

This includes payouts for bets placed on Morocco to win outright, with no maximum stake limits. The decision to reverse the match result has also prompted the Senegalese Football Federation to appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport, alongside a separate investigation into alleged corruption within CAF.
