Kebbi Government Warns Against Political Exploitation of Mental Health

The Kebbi State Government, represented by Abdullahi Idri, a special adviser on communication strategy, has issued a warning regarding the exploitation of mentally ill individuals for political mischief. This statement follows the emergence of a viral video showing a psychiatric patient receiving food aid, which was mischaracterized by opposition groups as part of a staged drama.

The government clarified that the palliative distribution, intended for Ramadan, was legitimate and that the claims made by the opposition were unfounded. It was noted that the Dandi Local Government's allocation did not reach the headquarters, and the distribution of grains, including rice and maize, was appropriate and timely.

The government emphasized that such orchestrated campaigns of calumny would not alter the public's perception of Governor Nasir Idri's commitment to socio-economic development in Kebbi State, especially as the 2027 elections approach.
