British Opposition to Biafra Tied to $6 Trillion Claim

Mike Arnold, the former mayor of Blanco City, Texas, has stirred controversy by alleging that the British government deliberately opposes the creation of an independent Biafran state due to concerns over potential reparations amounting to $6 trillion. Arnold's claims, shared on a Facebook post, argue that Britain's historical involvement in Nigeria, dating back to the 1914 amalgamation of the northern and southern protectorates, has created deep divisions that continue to affect the country.

He cites Britain's economic interests, particularly in oil, during the Nigerian Civil War (1967-1970), alleging that the UK prioritized its investments over humanitarian concerns. Arnold claims that declassified documents reveal British support for the Nigerian federal government during the war, including the supply of arms and ammunition.

He estimates the reparations based on oil revenue losses and structural damages, asserting that the total could reach $6 trillion, which he argues would be the largest reparations claim in modern history.
