BIC Launches $2,000 Art Contest for African Artists

BIC has announced the seventh edition of its Art Master Africa competition, which will run from April 21 to July 20, 2026, and offers a grand prize of $2,000. This initiative aims to empower emerging African artists by providing them with a platform for global exposure and recognition.

The competition encourages participants to create artwork using BIC Cristal ballpoint pens, aligning with BIC's commitment to education and creative development. This year's theme, "Tomorrow's Hand," challenges artists to interpret the future through their cultural lens.

The competition not only offers cash rewards but also mentorship and visibility in the market. Gregori Alibaux, the Market Director for Middle East Africa at BIC, emphasized the importance of amplifying young talent and providing a space for self-expression.

Since its launch in 2017, the competition has attracted significant participation, with 6,000 submissions from 2,500 artists across 52 countries. Notably, Nigerian artist Oscar Ukonu, a past participant, has built a notable career and returns as a judge for this edition.
