Birnin Gwari Council Seeks Reconnection to National Grid

Dr. Salisu Isah, the Chairman of Birnin Gwari Local Government Council in Kaduna State, has made an appeal to the federal government to reconnect villages in the eastern and western parts of Birnin Gwari to the national electricity grid. In an interview on Thursday, Isah expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the reconstruction of the 122-kilometre Kaduna-Birnin Gwari Road, noting that the return of relative peace and infrastructure attention has created opportunities to tackle longstanding development issues.

He pointed out that nine out of the eleven wards in the local government currently lack electricity due to years of insecurity and power infrastructure disruption. Isah emphasized that restoring electricity would significantly benefit education, healthcare, agriculture, small businesses, communication, and local economic development.

He also called for the completion of abandoned road projects, the rehabilitation of educational and healthcare facilities, and the establishment of higher learning institutions and a JAMB examination center in Birnin Gwari.
