Nigeria Women’s Tennis Team Promoted to Europe/Africa Group II

The Nigeria Women's Tennis Team made history by earning their first-ever promotion to the Europe/Africa Group II of the Billie Jean King Cup. They achieved this milestone by defeating the host nation, Botswana, with a score of 2-1 in a decisive playoff match held in Gaborone.

The team, guided by current coach Rotimi Akinloy, had previously topped Group C, winning against Burundi, Namibia, and Madagascar, but faced a setback with a 2-1 defeat to Tunisia. Nigeria responded strongly by beating Botswana in the final match, securing their place in the promotion playoff.

This achievement marks a significant breakthrough for Nigeria's tennis program, following their earlier promotion to the Davis Cup World Group II earlier in the year. The women's team’s success is a landmark victory, reflecting the ongoing progress of the country’s tennis program on the international stage.
