Nigeria Women's Cricket Team Triumphs Over Malawi

In the opening match of the Kwibuka 2026 T20 tournament, Nigeria's women's cricket team defeated Malawi by 52 runs at Gahanga 2 Cricket Oval in Kigali. Nigeria batted first, scoring 98 runs in 20 overs, with Jessica Bieni making a significant contribution of 25 runs.

Other notable performances included Sarah Etim with 14 runs, and both Eseigb and Christabel Chukwuony contributing 11 runs each. Malawi's bowling attack was led by Lucki Malino, who took four wickets.

In response, Nigeria's bowlers delivered a strong performance, dismissing Malawi for just 46 runs in 10.3 overs. Shola Adekunle was the standout bowler for Nigeria, claiming three wickets for 15 runs, while Henrietta Mbam took two wickets for 16 runs.

Captain Eseigb, playing her first competitive match of the year, also contributed with two wickets. The victory provides a crucial boost for Nigeria as they continue their campaign in the tournament, with their next match scheduled against Brazil.
