Tinubu Prevents Aiyedatiwa's Impeachment in 2023

In a recent media chat, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, the Deputy Governor of Ondo State, disclosed that President Bola Tinubu played a crucial role in halting his impeachment in 2023. Aiyedatiwa explained that the political crisis intensified when former Governor Rotimi Akeredolu fell seriously ill, leading to divisions within the ruling party and prompting political actors to see an opportunity to remove him from office.

The Ondo State House of Assembly had initiated impeachment proceedings against Aiyedatiwa in September 2023, citing allegations of gross misconduct. Following the death of Governor Akeredolu, Aiyedatiwa was sworn in to complete the remainder of the administration's tenure, with the next gubernatorial election scheduled for 2024.

Aiyedatiwa commended President Tinubu for his timely intervention during this politically turbulent period.
