Bolivia Suspends SADR Recognition, Restores Ties with Morocco

Bolivia announced the suspension of its recognition of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR) following a review of its foreign policy, as stated in a release from Morocco's foreign ministry. This decision was made after a phone conversation on Monday between Nasser Bourita, Morocco's Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Fernando Aramayo, Bolivia's Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Bolivia's action aligns with United Nations Security Council Resolution 2797, reaffirming its support for a political process under UN auspices. The Bolivian government has decided to withdraw its diplomatic ties with SADR and cease official contact, emphasizing its commitment to contributing to international efforts for a realistic and pragmatic political solution based on compromise.

The restoration of diplomatic relations between Bolivia and Morocco includes establishing resident diplomatic missions in La Paz and Rabat, as well as developing a bilateral roadmap to enhance political dialogue, trade, investment, and cooperation in agriculture and food security.
