Borno State Partners with AfDB and ICRC to Enhance Water Services

The government of Borno State, in collaboration with the African Development Bank (AfDB) and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), held a roundtable to enhance inclusive and resilient water services in Maiduguri. The event aimed to address the challenges faced by the region, especially after the collapse of the Alau Dam and the subsequent flooding.

With the population of Maiduguri projected to exceed a million by 2030, the demand for safe water sources has intensified. The roundtable brought together key stakeholders from various organizations to strategize on improving water infrastructure in the face of rapid urban growth and conflict-related challenges in the Lake Chad region.
