Borno Governor Zulum Approves N200 Million for Hospital

Borno State Governor Babagana Umara Zulum approved an additional N200 million for the National Orthopaedic Hospital located in Azare, raising the total support from the state government to N400 million. This announcement was made during an inspection visit to the hospital, which has shown rapid growth and expanded its range of specialist healthcare services within six months of commencing full clinic operations.

The hospital has recorded significant achievements, treating 4,000 patients and performing 300 major orthopaedic surgeries, including hip and knee replacements and spinal procedures. Governor Zulum recalled that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu approved the establishment of the hospital a year ago.

Despite the absence of capital release for overhead funds from the federal government, the hospital continues to make progress, attributed to the dedicated management led by Medical Director Dr. Ramat and support from the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital.

The hospital, primarily an orthopaedic referral center, has expanded its services to include obstetrics, gynaecology, and paediatric specialist medical services.
