Borno Commissioner Denies Threats Against Political Opponents

Comrade Saina Buba, the Borno State Commissioner for Poverty Alleviation and Sports, addressed allegations regarding his comments in a widely circulated video, which many interpreted as threats against political opponents. In the video, Buba stated, "Whoever shows us a finger, we will show him a finger… Whoever dares to show us a finger again, we will break his finger." He clarified that these remarks were directed at dissatisfied members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) within the Northeast, specifically during a meeting of the City Boy Movement (CBM), a group aimed at empowering loyalists within the party.

Buba emphasized that his comments were figurative and intended for an internal audience, not the general public. He did not apologize for his statements and expressed confidence in the APC's position against potential opposition attacks as the 2027 election cycle approaches.
