Malam Bako Mosque Denies Bomb Scare Claims in Maiduguri

The Malam Bako Mosque, located in the Layin Hadiza area of Maiduguri, Borno State, issued a statement on Tuesday to refute claims circulating on social media about a bomb being planted at its premises. The mosque's management described the information as completely false and unfounded, assuring the public that there had been no incidents around the mosque and that the surrounding neighborhood remains calm and safe.

They urged community members to disregard the unverified message to prevent unnecessary fear and panic. Nahum Daso, a spokesperson for the Borno State Police Command, also dismissed the bomb scare report, advising residents to maintain vigilance and refrain from sharing fake information.

This statement comes in light of heightened security concerns in the state following a recent attack on December 24, 2025, where at least five people were killed and 35 others injured due to a bomb explosion at the Al Adum Juma Mosque near the Gamboru market area during a prayer session.
