Akinwole II Omoboriowo Appointed Vice Chairman of BPC

Akinwole II Omoboriowo has been appointed as the Vice Chairman of the Botswana Power Corporation (BPC) Board of Directors, as confirmed by BPC's official website. This appointment comes as Botswana seeks to address persistent electricity supply challenges and expand its renewable energy footprint.

Omoboriowo, who is the current Chairman and CEO of Genesi Energy Group, brings over two decades of experience in energy infrastructure and financing, having led utility-scale generation projects across multiple countries, including Nigeria, South Africa, and the United Kingdom. His leadership is anticipated to align with Botswana's energy transition strategy, which aims to diversify the energy mix and improve grid resilience.

The World Bank has indicated fluctuations in Botswana's electricity generation, highlighting the need for reform. Omoboriowo expressed gratitude for the opportunity and emphasized his commitment to contributing meaningfully to Botswana's energy sector development.
