BPP Launches Free Digital Training Portal for MSMEs

The Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP) launched a free digital training portal in Abuja to enhance the participation of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in public procurement. The portal, developed with support from the World Bank under the Sustainable Procurement, Environmental and Social Standards Enhancement (SPESSE) Project, includes five interactive training modules, practical examples, quizzes, and a certificate of completion.
It is accessible via computers, tablets, and smartphones, and is optimized for users with limited internet connectivity. Dr. Adebowale Abraham Adedokun, the Director-General and Chief Executive Officer of the BPP, stated that the initiative addresses challenges faced by MSMEs, which constitute about 96 percent of businesses in Nigeria and contribute approximately 50 percent of the country's GDP.
The training will guide participants through the procurement cycle, from identifying opportunities to contract execution. The initiative also aims to support women-owned businesses, youth entrepreneurs, and persons with disabilities, while clarifying that training completion does not guarantee contract awards.
