Ondo Assembly Impeachment Process Against Speaker Ongoing

The impeachment proceedings against Olamide Oladiji, the Speaker of the Ondo State Assembly, are still ongoing, as confirmed by the Assembly's spokesperson, Mr. Olatunji Ifabiyi, on Thursday, August 27. Ifabiyi stated that reports suggesting the lawmakers had abandoned the impeachment process were inaccurate.

He noted that reconciliation talks involving the state governor and the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) are taking place. In contrast, Speaker Oladiji asserted that there is no impeachment process against him, claiming that the underlying disagreements have been resolved through the governor's intervention.

Additionally, Oladiji addressed an incident where three youth leaders were present at the Assembly complex, clarifying that they were there to collect recruitment forms, and the situation has been resolved. The conflicting statements from Oladiji and Ifabiyi indicate that the internal conflict within the Assembly is ongoing, with both sides presenting opposing views on the status of the impeachment process.
