Yari Declares Fuel Subsidy Permanently Abolished Ahead of 2027

Senator Abdulaziz Yari, the Director-General of the All Progressives Congress (APC) 2027 Presidential Campaign, declared that any promises to restore the fuel subsidy are deceptive, asserting that the policy is permanently abolished. He pointed out that the subsidy was not included in the 2023 federal budget prior to President Bola Tinubu's inauguration in May 2023, leaving no legal or financial basis for its continuation.

Yari estimated the annual cost of the subsidy at approximately ₦20 trillion and noted the lack of reliable consumption data to justify such expenditure. He also revealed that the government allocates over ₦2 trillion monthly for arms and security equipment, which, while not publicly visible, has significantly improved security conditions.

Yari stated that the APC would focus on its achievements in the upcoming campaign rather than attacking opponents directly. He expressed confidence in President Tinubu's leadership and commitment to securing his position in the 2027 elections.
