Bandits Abduct Zamfara LG Chairman, Kill Security Team

On Thursday night, suspected bandits abducted Hon. Nura Umar Bungudu, the Chairman of Bungudu Local Government Area in Zamfara State, following an attack on his residence in the Zango area, located less than 20 kilometers from Gusau, the state capital.

The attackers overpowered the security personnel guarding the house, resulting in the deaths of two police officers and two vigilantes. Despite the security team's resistance, the bandits executed their plan and escaped with the chairman, his wife, and some family members.

Security operatives later managed to rescue four or five of the chairman's children, but the chairman remained in captivity. Residents reported that the bandits were heavily armed and acted without warning, highlighting the challenges faced by local security forces.

Reinforcement teams arrived after the attackers had fled, and residents urged the government to enhance security measures in vulnerable communities to prevent further incidents.
