Nigerian Army Intensifies Rescue of Abducted LG Chairman

The Nigerian Army’s Operation FANSAN YAMMA has intensified its efforts to rescue Nura Abdullahi, the Chairman of Bungudu Local Government Area in Zamfara State, who was abducted during a terrorist attack on his residence. This incident occurred in the early hours of the day when armed terrorists overpowered Abdullahi's police and vigilante security detail.

Following the attack, troops responded immediately, engaging in a fierce exchange of fire with the terrorists. As a result of the troops' prompt intervention, five family members of the Chairman, including two children, his mother, wife, and relatives, were successfully rescued.

However, the terrorists escaped with Nura Abdullahi. Tragically, the attack claimed the lives of three members of the Chairman’s security detail, including two policemen and one local vigilante.

Alhaji Bello Umar, the Chairman’s elder brother, was injured during the incident. A coordinated search and rescue operation has been activated, involving multiple security agencies, to locate and safely rescue the abducted Chairman.
