Brother of Abducted LG Chairman Dies from Gunshot Wounds

Bello Abdullahi, the elder brother of Nura Abdullahi, the abducted chairman of Bungudu local government in Zamfara state, died from gunshot wounds sustained during a bandit attack on July 25. The attack occurred when bandits raided the chairman’s residence, abducting him and two other residents, Halliru Soja and Hussaini Naira.

Bello Abdullahi, a former treasurer in the state Ministry of Finance, was among those who rushed to assist during the attack and sustained critical injuries. Jamilu Bungudu, a media aide to Abdulmalik Zubairu, the federal lawmaker for the Bungudu/Maru Constituency, confirmed that Bello succumbed to his injuries on Monday.

The attack has resulted in five fatalities, including four security personnel: Inspector Basiru Lawal, police constable Hamza Muhammad, and two vigilantes, Nura ADC and Ibrahim Baare. As of the report, Nura Abdullahi and the other abductees remain in captivity, highlighting the ongoing security challenges in the region.
