Bandits Kill Officer, Policeman, Kidnap Residents in Zamfara

On August 2, 2026, at approximately 1:40 am, bandits attacked Kasuwar Daji village in Kaura Namoda Local Government Area, Zamfara State, resulting in the deaths of an army officer and a policeman. Eyewitness Musa Garba reported that over 70 residents were abducted during the assault.

The bandits invaded the village, shooting sporadically and searching homes for victims. Despite efforts from military operatives, police personnel, and local vigilantes to thwart the attack, they were overwhelmed by the large number of assailants.

Olaniyi Osoba, Acting Deputy Director of Army Public Relations, confirmed the incident and stated that the military's response forced the bandits to retreat, leading to the rescue of nine abducted civilians. He also reported that two soldiers sustained injuries during the firefight.

The situation left many villagers in panic, with women and children stranded.
