Uche Nnaji Arrested Over Certificate Forgery Allegations

Uche Nnaji, the former Minister of Science and Technology, was arrested on Wednesday at Akanu Ibiam International Airport in Enugu while preparing to board a charter flight to Abuja. His arrest is connected to an ongoing investigation by the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC) regarding allegations of certificate forgery.

The ICPC has been investigating Nnaji for allegedly submitting falsified educational records, including a university degree and a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) certificate, during his appointment process. The matter gained public attention as doubts were raised about the authenticity of the documents he submitted.

Reports indicated that Nnaji claimed to have graduated from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) and completed the mandatory NYSC program; however, investigations later suggested that UNN did not issue the degree certificate. Despite maintaining his innocence and previously dismissing the allegations, Nnaji has faced scrutiny and legal challenges, including an appeal against the arrest order.

The ICPC's investigation has intensified, marking a significant development in the case.
