NAN Correspondent Martha Aga Wins Global Media Award

Martha Aga, a correspondent for the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), has been awarded the overall best prize at the Women Media Award 2026 during the Women Change World Global Summit held in Paris, France. The announcement was made on March 9, following an independent assessment by an international panel of judges.

Aga was previously named among five finalists in her category, selected from 1,500 nominations submitted across 97 countries. The award recognizes the impact of her work in developing journalism that amplifies the voices of vulnerable and marginalized communities and draws attention to critical social issues.

Other notable mentions included Karen Sander, who received an honourable mention, while Kirsti Nancarrow and Sharon Swietek were recognized as second and third runners-up, respectively. Kati Garner, co-founder of the organizing body, congratulated Aga for her outstanding contributions to the media industry.
