Nigerian Labour Leader Domingo Adeleke Dies in Geneva

Domingo Michael Adeleke, the chairman of the Lagos State Joint Negotiating Council (JNC), died in Geneva on Tuesday while attending the 114th session of the International Labour Conference. He reportedly fell ill and was taken for medical attention before passing away.

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) confirmed the incident, expressing deep sorrow and describing Adeleke as a committed trade unionist devoted to worker welfare. Throughout his career, he was actively involved in labor advocacy and initiatives promoting decent work and social justice.

The NLC announced that arrangements for repatriation were being made, and its leadership visited the hospital following his passing. The loss of Adeleke has cast a shadow over Nigeria's participation in the ongoing conference, which brings together representatives from governments, employers, and workers worldwide to discuss labor issues.

The NLC extended condolences to Adeleke's family and colleagues, recognizing his dedication to advancing the interests of Nigerian workers.
