Osun Police Confirm Cult Attack on Governor's Convoy

On Wednesday, the Osun State Police Command confirmed that the shooting incident involving the convoy of Governor Ademola Adeleke in Osogbo was connected to an attempt by suspected cult members to access music star David Adeleke, known as Davido. This incident occurred shortly after Governor Adeleke received his certificate of return from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) following his victory in the Osun governorship election.

Davido had participated in the governor's re-election campaign and was present during post-election activities. The police spokesperson, Abiodun Ojelabi, stated that a suspected member of the Eiye Confraternity, identified as Adebayo Taoreed, attempted to approach Davido but was stopped by his security team.

This confrontation escalated, leading to gunfire between the suspected gang members and the governor's security personnel. The violence created panic in the Oja Oba area, resulting in residents seeking safety.

Tragically, a 60-year-old man, Tajudeen Yusuf, was killed during the incident.
