Oyo CAN Suspends Night Vigils Amid Rising Insecurity

The Oyo Christian Association (Oyo CAN) has officially suspended late-night vigils in response to increasing insecurity and a rise in abductions across the state. This decision was communicated through a joint statement signed by the Chairman, Elisha Ogundiya, and the Secretary, Samuel Owolabi, in Ibadan on Wednesday.

The association expressed concern over the recent surge in kidnapping incidents and advised churches to enhance their security measures by employing security personnel and utilizing electronic devices within their premises. They also urged congregations to intensify prayers for the release of those abducted.

Furthermore, Oyo CAN recommended that churches refrain from allowing strangers to sleep on their premises and called on the public to limit travel and avoid late-night movements. This directive aligns with Governor Seyi Makinde's earlier order banning commercial motorcycle operations after 10:30 PM in the state to improve safety.
