Peter Obi Rejects False Letter Addressed to Onitsha Obi

Peter Obi, the former governor of Anambra State and presidential candidate for the NDC, publicly disowned a purported letter circulating on social media that was addressed to Igwe Nnaemeka Alfred Ugochukwu Achebe, the Obi of Onitsha. In a statement released on September 19, 2026, Obi described the letter as “entirely false, malicious,” and a fabrication aimed at misleading the public.

The letter, dated the same day, was titled “The Future of is Bleak” and addressed political disagreements and financial issues involving Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Charles and Obi's previous administration. The writer of the letter called for the opening of financial records and the examination of relevant documents while appealing to traditional institutions and political leaders for accountability and unity.

Obi emphasized that he had never authored the letter and urged Nigerians and the media to disregard it, reaffirming his commitment to national development and accountability.
