Justice Moham Nasir Yunusa of Kano High Court Dies

Justice Moham Nasir Yunusa, a prominent judge at the Federal High Court in Kano, collapsed and died on Thursday evening. He was reported to have slumped in his office and was immediately rushed to a hospital, where doctors later confirmed his death.

The incident was disclosed by Catherine Obi Christoph, a director at the Federal High Court in Nigeria. Justice Yunusa was widely recognized for his dedication and had presided over several sensitive high-profile cases, particularly those related to the 2023 general elections.

Notably, he dealt with a case seeking to nullify the candidacy of Abia Governor-elect Alex Otti. The court had previously nullified the election of a Labour Party candidate in Kano.

Justice Yunusa's burial took place on Friday, following Islamic rites, at a state medical center in Kano. His contributions to the judiciary and the handling of politically sensitive matters will be remembered.
