BREAKING: Wike Allocates Abuja Old Parade Ground to APC for New Secretariat

Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, has allocated a section of the historic Old Parade Ground in Abuja to the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the construction of a new national secretariat. The allocation effectively grants the ruling party permanent ownership of the land without the usual statutory charges.

The land, registered as Plot 4742 in the Garki District, was excised and handed over to the APC with a right of occupancy certificate. The party currently operates from the Muhammadu Buhari House in Wuse II, but a new secretariat was deemed necessary by the National Executive Committee.

Despite the usual charges that accompany such allocations, the APC was not required to pay them, as the ministerial discretion waived the fees. This swift allocation process contrasts with Wike's previous actions of revoking titles and demolishing structures to restore Abuja's master plan.
