APGA Wins All Seats in Anambra Local Government Elections

The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) achieved a clean sweep in the Anambra local government elections held on Saturday, July 26, 2025, winning every chairmanship and councillorship seat contested. Genevieve Osakwe, chair of the Anambra State Independent Electoral Commission (ANSIEC), confirmed the victories across all 21 local government areas and 362 electoral wards in the state.

The results were announced at ANSIEC's headquarters in Awka on Sunday, August 30, 2026. Osakwe noted that APGA was the only party fielding candidates in 20 of the 21 local government areas, with the Young Progressives Party (YPP) contesting solely in Anambra East LGA.

Notably, no opposition candidates or representatives were present during the results announcement. Osakwe praised the voter turnout and the security agencies for maintaining order, affirming that the election process adhered to the state's electoral laws and guidelines.

She emphasized that results were verified before the formal declaration to ensure accuracy.
