Abia State University Investigated for Bribery Allegations

Abia State University is facing serious allegations of bribery and certificate forgery involving its staff and students. In response, Governor Alex Otti of Abia State constituted a five-member special investigative committee to probe these allegations.

The committee aims to restore integrity and uphold academic standards within the state-owned university. The announcement was made by Okei Kanu during a press briefing at the government house in Umuahia following a State Executive Council meeting.

The committee will be chaired by Pastor Caleb Ajagba, the Chief of Staff to the Governor, with Dodoh Okafor serving as the secretary. Other members include Mr.

Chinedu Ekek, Professor Idowu Eluwa, and Professor Lawrence Idemudua Kanu. The panel is tasked with identifying individuals involved in the alleged misconduct and recommending appropriate actions.

The committee will also investigate the extent of bribery and certificate forgery against lecturers and assess the implementation of the 2024 white paper on the university.
