BUA Cement Donates N108m to Support Sokoto Farmers

BUA Cement Plc donated agricultural inputs valued at N108 million to 211 resettled farmers in Sokoto State to aid food production for the 2026 wet farming season. The beneficiaries are farmers whose farmland was impacted by the company's expansion project, leading to their resettlement.

The donation event took place at the company's premises in Sokoto and was attended by government officials and community leaders. Ali Gumel, Director of Health, Safety, and Environment at BUA Group, emphasized the company's commitment to supporting vulnerable communities through corporate social responsibility initiatives, particularly in agriculture, which is vital to Sokoto State's economy.

The support package includes improved seed varieties, fertilizers, agrochemicals, and small-scale farming tools tailored to the local soil and climate conditions. Abubakar Dan Maliki, the program manager for the Sokoto Agricultural Development Project, noted that the intervention comes at a critical time when farmers urgently need inputs for the rainy season, which will significantly reduce production costs and ease the financial burden on resettled farmers.
