Bungudu LGA Chairman Abducted in Deadly Bandit Attack

On Friday night at approximately 11:40 PM, a bandit attack in Bungudu Local Government Area, Zamfara State, led to the abduction of Hon. Nura Umar Abdullahi, the Chairman of Bungudu LGA.

Alongside him, two civilians, Halliru Ahmad Soja, a staff member at the Federal Medical Centre, Gusau, and Hussaini Naira, a young entrepreneur, were also taken. The attack resulted in the deaths of four security personnel: Inspector Basiru Lawal, Constable Hamza Muhammad, an ADC attached to the Chairman, and two vigilante members, Ibrahim Ba’are and another unidentified member.

Alh. Bello Umar Abdullahi (ST), the former treasurer of the Zamfara State Ministry of Finance, sustained injuries and is currently receiving treatment.

Community members expressed their sorrow and called for prayers for the safe return of the abducted individuals and for peace in the region. As of the report, security agencies had not issued an official statement regarding the incident.
